Nova Structures Ltd is a Hampshire based, privately owned manufacturer of factory built modular houses and has been heavily engaged in research & development for the past seven years, prior to our plan to move into full-scale production in Q2 2023. Job Title: MEP Revit Technician
Reports to: Head of Design
Contract: Permanent
Annual Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (based on experience)
Objectives of the role:
- Working with the Design and Manufacturing teams in creating bespoke MEP solutions for volumetric modular housing
- Detailed design and detailing for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for our housing system, in compliance with the latest Building regulations and SAP calculations.
- All designs to drawn and scheduled for manufacture in Revit, minimum experience of 3 Years working on live projects, creating, and editing families. Maintaining libraries and working in accordance with the company standards. For submission to building regulations and regulatory bodies.
- Supporting the sales functions by performing viability assessments of potential projects and to demonstrate the potential uses of our products.
- To work within the various specialisms that make up the Design Team, including in-house and outsourced specialists. Ensuring compliance to standards such as BOPAS (Build Offsite Property Assurance Scheme), and Building Regulations is central to this objective.
- To work with the Operations Team to innovate, improve and value engineer Nova products.
- To identify and record the costs of the design and to reduce them wherever possible, without compromising the objectives of the design brief.
- To ensure that all the above activities are conducted in compliance with the company’s ERP/IMS systems and other standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, BIM Level 2, and the requirements of the sales processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using Revit and other associated software to create and edit the detailed drawings required for the sales, production engineering and manufacturing teams and outsourced specialists.
- To ensure that accurate fabrication, production, and assembly drawings are produced to Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerances (GDMT) for design and manufacturing.
- To ensure that all drawings and supporting processes are BIM Level 2 compliant.
- Ensure all drawings are approved through the designated change control process before being issued.
- Prepare standard details for Client Information Packs.
- Work with the Production Team to design for ease of manufacture and assembly (DfMA).
- Work with the manufacturing and procurement team to assist in value engineering of the products. This will include creating Bills of Materials for each design and monitoring raw material and other relevant input costs, to ensure that the product cost models used by the company are always up to date.
- Work with colleagues to successfully project manage the design programme by planning, monitoring, and reporting on progress to the respective Line Manager and/or Director.
- Carry out all work in accordance with the Nova Integrated Management System (IMS) covering Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, Information Security, BOPAS and other standards that may be relevant to the company’s success.
Skills & Experience required:
- A Minimum of 3 years working within the Housing and Engineering industry, whether that be with a Consultancy, House Builder or Developer.
- 3 years working with Revit on live projects.
- A working knowledge of the Building Regulations and planning process.
- Experience in producing detailed technical drawings for residential projects.
- Ability to structure and produce assembly drawings for manufacture.
- Experience in modular building an advantage but not essential.
- Experience of designing Electrical, Heating, and plumbing systems for submission to regulatory authorities.
